How it works

Ten seconds a day.

Open SYM on the bus after payday, at your desk at lunch or on the sofa when a reminder nudges you. It says how much, you tap once, and you're done for the day.

  1. Pick a challenge

Start with the 52-Week, 100 Envelope, 1p or No-Spend challenge, or set your own target and date. SYM works out what each day needs.

  2. One tap a day

When today's amount is put aside, tap the coin. That's the whole habit. Running a few goals? One tap saves everything due.

  3. Watch the tally fill

Every save leaves a mark. A 180-day goal is 180 marks, and you can see each one you've made. Missed days stay calm and can be caught up.

Status is a shape, not just a colour.

  • Saved. A pale tint with a tick.
  • Due today. An amber ring. Your streak holds until midnight.
  • Missed. A dashed ring you can catch up. Never a red cross.

Streaks and badges

Every goal keeps its own streak.

A streak only ends once a day is over without a save, so today never counts against you. Each goal has its own, which means a slip on one doesn't wipe out another.

Hit 7, 14, 30, 60, 100 and 365 days and you earn a coin medal. Goals earn them at 25%, 50%, 75% and done. No confetti, no emoji, just a medal worth keeping.

Widgets and Live Activity, on iPhone

Today's total, without opening the app.

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show what's left to save today across all your goals, and which ones are done.

Leave the app with something still due and a Live Activity keeps the day's total on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, then clears itself once everything is saved.

Widgets and the Live Activity are iPhone only. Everything else works on Android too.

Does SYM hold or move my money?

No. SYM doesn't connect to your bank, hold funds or take payments. You put the money aside wherever you like, a savings account, a pot or a jar, and tap the coin to record it.

What happens if I miss a day?

The day shows as missed with a dashed ring, not a red cross. You can catch it up whenever you're ready and it still counts towards your total. Your streak restarts with your next on-time save.

When does a streak break?

Only once a day is over. Today stays open until midnight, so an unsaved day shows as due, not missed, and your streak holds until then. Each goal keeps its own streak.

Can I run more than one goal?

Yes. The big coin adds up everything due today, so one tap saves it all. Each goal also has its own small coin if you only want to save one.

Is SYM free?

SYM is free to download, and picking a challenge, saving each day, streaks and badges work without paying. There is an optional Pro subscription with extra automations and insights, with a free trial you can cancel any time.

How does the 52‑Week Challenge work?

You save £1 in week one, £2 in week two and so on up to £52 in week 52. That's £1,378 by the end of the year. SYM can also run it in reverse, starting at £52.

Which currencies and devices are supported?

SYM works in USD, GBP, EUR, CAD and AUD, in 11 languages. It runs on iPhone and Android. Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets and the Live Activity are iPhone only.

Where is my data kept?

On your phone by default, and you can use SYM without an account. If you choose to sign in, your goals sync so they're there on a new device. Our privacy policy has the details.
